Flower appliqué, understated crepe, and drop waist mermaids are just some of the many trends that have taken hold of the current bridal world. Brides nowadays like an understated look, but with a touch of glam. And Say Yes to the Dress season 20 had three bridal dresses that really wowed the fans this year.
Say Yes To The Dress' Goth & Vintage Dress
Alex Stebbins from Say Yes to the Dress season 20, episode 5, is obsessed with goth and vintage glam. She came into Kleinfeld's with her friend Allyson wanting a nontraditional dress, instantly attracted to trying on a black gown. Even though Alex wanted black, Allyson was worried she would regret a black wedding dress. Undeterred, Alex tried a black and beaded Lazaro ballgown that she instantly fell in love with it. However, Allyson talked Alex out of it by saying, "If it was Tim Burton-themed, perfect. But that's not what it is. Think of the venue." Alex's consultant asked her, "Do you feel like a bride?" and Alex's answer was "No." Although her choice to go with a white dress is respectable, she looked stunning in Lazaro's masterpiece. Viewers can only hope Alex has a formal occasion coming up that she could wear the black dress for.
Say Yes To The Dress' Understated Gown
In every episode of Say Yes to the Dress, not only do viewers meet two new brides searching for their dream dress, but a third bride returns for alterations. OnSay Yes to the Dress season 20, episode 6, returning bride Kelsey Topa tried on her Martina Liana gown for a final fitting. The dress was beautifully understated: a clean satin trumpet gown enhanced by bold lines from the spaghetti strap v-neckline bodice and a softening bow in the back. Conflict arose when the woman who did Kelsey's alterations could not find Kelsey's bridal belt. She left to search for it, leaving Kelsey and her family alone and worried that the belt may not be replaceable in time. However, what's so striking about Kelsey's dress is that some fans could argue that it looks even better without a belt. The unbroken shape of the silky white trumpet dress is one of the most visually appealing dresses onSay Yes to the Dress. The crisis was averted when Kelsey's belt was found, but some viewers wished she had gone without the belt. Either way, Kelsey looked beautiful.
Say Yes To The Dress' Snowflake Show Stopper
Tennessee country singer Jenny Tolman came to Kleinfeld in episode 7, looking for a perfect dress for her outdoor and snowy Wyoming wedding. Armed with chic white winter boots, Jenny wanted to look like "a womanly snowflake." Her eye was immediately drawn to her first and ultimate pick: a stunning Martina Liana high-neck long-sleeve gown with flower appliqué that looked like "snowy branches." Despite Jenny's outward confidence, she battled deep insecurity growing up. Jenny immediately fell in love with the gown. Even her bold winter boots paired impeccably with the soft dress. Jenny looked exactly like she wanted to, which is why her gown is the outstanding favorite forSay Yes to the Dress season 20.
